JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Concrete Superintendent assists the Concrete Superintendent with the planning and daily execution of a construction project or multiple projects. This person should have experience in the concrete business and be familiar with all aspects of concrete construction ranging from simple footings to large retaining walls, tilt wall construction, and concrete framed structures. Must be able to take a set of plans and work with our crews to complete all aspects of concrete construction. The Assistant Concrete Superintendent shall work with their crew-leaders to ensure safety, schedule, and quality control are all done correctly while staying within budget. This person will ensure time sheets are entered and coded properly, will track manhours by activity against the budget, and will track equipment rentals against the budget ensuring profitability is maintained.
Additionally, the Assistant Concrete Superintendent will help with recruiting, training, and managing the workforce. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Financial Responsibilities
- Manages the workforce, schedule, and equipment successfully complete projects Safely, on Schedule and within the Budget.
- Performs cost coding to comply with the project budget of items purchased or labor performed.
- Ensures that time sheets are entered and coded appropriately.
Preconstruction Services
- Could be called upon to assist Superintendent with the analysis of new work and development of General Conditions
Project Start-up and Scheduling
- Performs or assists, as assigned, with all project start up items from the Project Start-up Checklist
- Performs or assists Superintendent in the review and coordination of the Loss Prevention and Quality Control Program
- Assists with or has full responsibility to develop and maintain a project schedule including periodic updates to status the project.
Project Administration, Coordination and Close-out
- In absence of the Superintendent, has overall responsibility for project Safety and Quality Control.
- Fully capable of interpreting all contract documents and understanding the scope of work involved.
- Assists project team in the development of RFI’s required to perform the work.
- May be called upon to attend and participate in meetings with Architect/Engineer and owner representatives, provides information and assists the project team in the preparation of progress reports/meeting minutes.
- Coordinates to ensure all clarifications, changes, directives, RFIs, etc., are updated and the most current plans are utilized on-site.
- Ensures “as-built” drawings and are fully coordinated.
- Makes decisions under tight deadlines, sometimes with incomplete information

WORKING CONDITIONS

- The project team and/or team member may need to move to other geographic locations for projected work, if necessary.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

- Entry level position with up to 4 years of experience preferred, or 2 to 4 years of progressive construction related trade experience. Previous Carpentry position or Field Engineering position with a commercial construction company is desired.
