- Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam
- Knowledge of energy management and vehicle repair and maintenance
- Ability to conduct on-site inspections of all vehicle repair and maintenance operations
- Ability to manage budget and personnel
- Ability to implement policy and procedures

- Ability to use technology to plan, operate, monitor, and evaluate transportation operations
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- 3 years as a dispatcher or driver trainer in the transportation field
- 2 years experience as a bus driver
- Assist with the hiring of bus drivers, bus monitors, and office staff
- Oversee preparation and updating of bus routes and schedules for all schools in district and develop plans to meet future transportation needs.
- Communicate changes in routes and scheduling to campuses when warranted.
- Coordinate transportation for extracurricular activities and special programs.
- Assign bus drivers to routes and extracurricular trips and find substitutes as needed.
- Observe all safety rules according to DOT regulations.
- Prepare various reports as required by the state, district or department
- Assist director with assignment of drivers, monitors, routes, vehicles and substitutes for shifts.
- Directly oversee the development of bus routes in accordance with TEA guidelines.
- Assist with extracurricular transportation.
- Drive bus routes when necessary.
- Investigate reported concerns and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
- Implement federal and state law, State Board of Education rules and Board Policy.
- Promote a positive image that supports the mission of the district
- Generate route descriptions and maintain computerized files and database.
- Respond to after-hours calls when necessary.

Primary Purpose
Supervise the daily operation of personnel and equipment involved in delivering students on school bus routes and extra-curricular events.
