Carteret Community College (Morehead City, NC) is accepting applications to serve as a pool for future adjunct instructor needs. Individuals interested in adjunct (part-time)  curriculum teaching positions may submit their application to this adjunct curriculum instructor pool. Positions are not benefit eligible. The candidate should have the ability to accommodate a flexible working schedule and limited travel within service area. Applicants must complete the online application in its entirety, including references,  and attach an unofficial copy of their college transcript . If more than 1 transcript, scan together and attach as one document. Hourly rate of pay is per contact hour of instruction, and is the minimum hourly rate as outlined in the current fiscal year NC Community College State Aid Allocations and Budget Policies, currently ranging from $30.86 per contact hour (Vocational Diploma, Certificate, or Less), to $37.19 per contact hour (Doctoral degree). Applications will remain active for 9 months. This includes Arts & Sciences, Health Sciences, and Applied Sciences instructor positions.

Duties include :

Teaching and Learning :

  • Teach courses assigned by the department chair and approved by the division dean.
  • Design and implement instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful.
  • Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers approved student learning outcomes.
  • Electronically maintain and submit all required college records including attendance and grade reports, etc.
  • Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course.
  • Measure and report required student learning outcomes.
  • Assist students in receiving needed instructional resources.

Curriculum Development :

  • Maintain, review, and update (as directed) course content, learning outcomes, and course syllabi
  • Recommend course textbooks, supplies, equipment, and equipment repairs
  • Participate in departmental activities relative to revising and updating the course(s) in the area of expertise
  • Utilize student learning outcomes assessment results to improve courses / program
  • Professional Development :

  • Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for position.
  • Keep abreast of current technology.
  • Institutional Service :

  • Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required department, division, and college-wide meetings.
  • Community Relations :

  • Maintain contact with specialized vocations where applicable.
  • Be alert to public relations opportunities and use these to promote the college and the department.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in area of instruction and / or demonstrated education, experience, and credential commensurate for the teaching discipline.
  • All instructors in the area of Emergency Services Training must be qualified as established by the respective emergency services certifying agency. Emergency services training means training delivered to personnel in law enforcement, fire and rescue services, and emergency medical services.
  • Faculty standards shall be consistent with the standards established by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

    Knowledge and Skills : The candidate will possess teaching and administrative skills leading to this level of responsibility. Demonstration of skill in communication, organization, and managing multiple priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community groups, and others; and demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment.
