What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grow Zone Curriculum Coordinator (Preschool Curriculum Coordinator, Part-Time) position at Port City Community Church?
Position: Part time Hourly, non-exempt
Reports To: Director of Children’s Ministry
Campus: Wilmington
Salary: $16/hour
Purpose:This individual will coordinate and support the activities done within Grow Zone, the birth-PreK ministry department of Port City Community Church. This individual is responsible for preparing curriculum for children ages 2-5 years old which includes the Bible Story, Game/Activity, Craft, Memory Verse, and Music to accompany the weekly lesson.
In addition, he/she will work alongside the Grow Zone staff to train the teachers and volunteers so they are equipped with resources to best implement the curriculum in keeping with the mission, which is to reach kids and come alongside families to help them walk with God.
Position Specifications:
· Must be a believer of Jesus Christ and an active participant of Port City Community Church (a history of active participation is preferable).
· Must demonstrate a value of and naturally participate in personal evangelism.
· Must be passionate about children.
· Must be a team-oriented person with the ability to design, implement and mature objectives of Grow Zone.
· Must excel in ministry commitment, conduct and professionalism.
· Must possess training and development skills.
· Must be action and goal oriented.
· Must be computer literate.
· Excellent organization and diplomacy skills are essential.
· Preferred to have Early Childhood care or teaching experience.
· Must be highly ethical and able to process sensitive information confidentially.
· Must demonstrate an acceptable balance of confidence and humility, and must be willing to proactively address issues in accordance with scripture and in alignment with the Port City Community Church statement of faith.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum and Activities:
- Edit Grow Zone curriculum and make it available for all locations in a timely manner. Curriculum consists of lesson plans, stories, games/activities, craft, worship, etc.
- ·Coordinate and actively utilize a volunteer team of people to assist in preparing curriculum for Sunday.
- Be available to the classrooms on Sunday’s to see the curriculum in use and to help with effective implementation.
- Responsible for purchasing curriculum supplies as needed.
Supporting Families
- Work to engage parents and families with the Sunday curriculum (handouts, online resources, social media resources, etc.)
- Create handouts and resources that are built off of our 3 year curriculum rotation.
Classrooms
- Maintain Grow Zone classrooms so that they are ready to be used by teachers on Sunday. Coordinate volunteers to assist.
- Create spaces that promote safety and learning. Coordinate volunteers to assist.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist in the vision and goals of Children’s Ministry.
- Work alongside the children’s ministry staff to coordinate initiatives such as Move Up, volunteer appreciation events, family events, etc.
- Work alongside the Grow Zone volunteer coordinator to plan monthly meetings for volunteers to introduce curriculum.
- Plan for special events and holidays such as: Summer themes, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas Eve, etc.
General Work Schedule:
· Part time (20 hours/week) on Sunday – Wednesday
· All Port City Staff are required to work on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday
