Position: Practical Nursing Instructor/Clinical Supervisor
Term: Full-time
Classification: Certified, Exempt
Location: Carthage Technical Center - North
Qualifications:
- Current Missouri license to practice professional nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Two years professional nursing experience in clinical nursing practice, administration or nursing education. (2 years of experience must be within the last 5 years and experience must include an average of 20 hours per week.)
- Missouri vocational certification (must be obtained within 3 months of appointment)
- Teaching experience preferred
- Active in professional organizations preferred

Reports to: Director & Assistant Director of Carthage Technical Center

- Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for instruction of practical nursing classes and curriculum development to meet the standards of Carthage Technical Center, DESE and the State Board of Nursing
- Provide clinical supervision of students
- Assist coordinator in development, implementation and evaluation of program objectives, selection for texts, budget preparation, updating of brochures and handbooks and keeping track of equipment inventory
- Assist Program Coordinator with additional Administrative duties as assigned
- Maintain and update practical nursing library and resources
- Maintain, supply and provide oversight of lab area
- Be accessible for student counseling, providing time, privacy and referrals as needed
- Work to promote desirable relationships with cooperating agencies and to promote positive community relationships
- Serve as a member of the practical nursing advisory board
- Work with coordinator to evaluate student progress and recommend necessary adjustment throughout the program
- Assist coordinator in development, implementation and evaluation of the program
- Participate in professional organizations and maintain requirements of Missouri teacher certification
- Maintain records on student progress and attendance and other information as required
- Develop and maintain up-to-date objectives, lesson plans and instructional materials
- Perform such responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of the Technical Center, PN Coordinator
- Carry out all other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Conditions and Environment
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
