FINISHING SITE MANAGER
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Finishing Site Manager is responsible for the daily coordination of activities at the multiple nurseries, finishers, or wean to finish sites to safely produce high quality animals through great production, for caring for the welfare of the animals, including feed, air, water, and management, as well as assisting the Production Manager contractually responsibilities on contract grower sites. The Finishing Site Manager provides leadership and support to their team by working alongside them to maintain, develop, implement, and educate team members on SOPS and protocols for achieving maximum performance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements daily/weekly work plans for employees
- Obtains great production through following company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS)
- Ensures animals are being cared for daily, including water, feed and management
- Orders feed and supplies for the farm and controls costs by monitoring the usage
- Inventory of medications to insure barn care can be completed properly
- Ensures proper tools are provided to the maintenance staff
- Complies with the practices and principals of biosecurity to safeguard the life and health of the herd
- Maintains targets and goals for performance and mortality
- Select replacement gilts at managed sites for internal and external customers
- Selection of market hogs for managed sites
- Manage and track room and barn level inventories electronically and in hard copy
- Maintains accurate and detailed records on all animals
- Participates in weekly/monthly updates with the production and health team
- Gives feedback as daily/ weekly to the Wean to Finish Manager
- Flow pigs through the barn to maximize usage and optimize health and production
- Understand company managed asset maintenance process and expectations
- Follow safety guidelines and enforce use of personal protection equipment on farm
- Monitor and communicate manure pit levels
- Ensures cleanliness and sanitation in barn, alleyways, and office
- Assists with other duties as assigned on your site or other sites in the system
- Supports and assists the Wean to Finish Manager on loading/unloading pigs or in-barn duties on contract grower sites
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or Associates Degree AND
- 1-3 years related experience in swine production is preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Organization and leadership skills
- Agriculture background with knowledge of pig terminology
- Understand company policy and procedure
- Company standard operating procedures through work experience
- Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills both written and orally
- Ability to be adapt to last minute changes and implement those changes to accommodate the system
Mental and Physical Requirements:
- Demonstrate ability to excel within an accelerated work environment
- Possess the motivation to work with limited supervision and independently
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
