What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator position at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare?
This position manages the organization’s security and emergency preparedness programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight of the security and emergency preparedness programs and operations; managing and training security officers who patrol and respond to security and emergency incidents; ensuring compliance with all security protocols; coordination and implementation of emergency preparedness standards to facilitate a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors; coordination of education and exercises within the organization to ensure an organized response during a disaster or emergency events; integration of safety and other relevant regulations; and implementation/oversight of drills, incident and/or event response.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Certification(s) in Security or Emergency Preparedness preferred.
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to Casa Colina’s carriers.
- Valid Security Registration Card from the State.
- Must be able to obtain a criminal clearance from the Department of Justice before employment or initial presence in the facility.
- Previous experience in security operations including supervisory or management experience.
- Experience in healthcare-related field that includes emergency preparedness, safety and/or regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with healthcare emergency preparedness, including security, safety, HAZMAT, OSHA, NIMS, HICS, HVA, CMS, and hospital accreditation and governing bodies (e.g., CDPH, TJC, DNV-GL, CARF) related criteria.
- Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 1 year from date of hire.
- Record of mature judgement, preferably in a related position
- Analytical skills necessary to evaluate and make recommendations regarding emergency management issues.
- Ability and demeanor to conduct investigations.
- Knowledge of arrest, search, and seizure regulations.
- Knowledge in de-escalation tactics, crisis prevention and methods of restraining aggressive behavior.
- Ability to design lesson plans, coordinate courses, and assist/ conduct realistic simulated training.
- Capable of safely performing functions indigenous to the position, including routine or repeated and extended periods of standing, walking, physical exertion, reaching, operating in confined or uncomfortable environs, lifting and carrying loads, and using tools and equipment.
