CASA of Southwest Missouri
General Description
The Training Coordinator is an hourly, nonexempt position that will provide support for volunteer applicants of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Southwest Missouri. Primary duties will include responding to initial volunteer inquiries, conducting volunteer applicant interviews, the planning and facilitation of volunteer training, and community education. The Training Coordinator will be guided by the best interest of the child, while staying aligned with CASA of Southwest Missouri’s internal policies and directives. This position reports to the Program Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteer Onboarding & Pre-Service Training
- Responds to volunteer inquiries within 48 business hours
- Conducts volunteer applicant interviews
- Ensures compliance with volunteer applicant screening process
- Plans and facilitates at least six, pre-service trainings each year
- Actively monitors volunteer applicants’ progress throughout training
- Prepares training materials and packets
- Maintains direct contact with volunteer applicants until assigned to an Advocate Supervisor
- Actively participate in recruiting new volunteers
- Prepare data and reports using the Optima database
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
Volunteer In-Service Training & Staff Professional Development
- Plans and facilitates monthly, in-service trainings for CASA volunteers
- Works with CASA leadership to plan and facilitate monthly, professional development opportunities for CASA team members
- Prepare data and reports using the Optima database
Community Education
- Plans and facilitates monthly, informational meetings to recruit new volunteers
- Provide input for CASA Ambassadors Program
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, education or similar, required
- Two years foster care case management/child welfare experience, preferred
- The ability to communicate with, assess, and educate volunteer applicants
- The ability to work cooperatively with diverse individuals
- Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Commitment to CASA program’s goals and mission
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Successfully complete criminal background check and child abuse background check
