Our services include parent education classes, Foster Care, Parents As Teachers, Behavioral Health, and Nurse-Family Partnership Program!

Job Summary

The Early Childhood Education Assistant Director has strong interest and ability to work with children and families who have a history of trauma. This position requires a solid understanding of Trauma-Informed Care and the importance of family engagement. The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Center Director in ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children in the center's care. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Director collaborates with staff to ensure that the curriculum and classroom activities are effectively delivered, meeting both the needs of the students and the goals of the center.

As part of our commitment to attracting top talent, we are pleased to offer a $1,000 Sign-On Bonus . This bonus will be paid in two installments : $500 upon successful completion of the onboarding process, and an additional $500 after 90 days of continuous employment.

Essential Duties

  • Assumes duties of Center Director and Teachers as needed during their absence.
  • Collaborates with staff to ensure adherence to quality standards in accordance with Center guidelines and state and local requirements; implements improvements where needed.
  • Maintains communication with families and the community through appropriate outreach activities.
  • Follows all center policies and state regulations.
  • Ensures the supervision, safety, and protection of children at all times.
  • Maintains a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Attends team meetings and professional development trainings as required by the organization, DHS licensing regulations, accreditation, and quality improvement standards.
  • Follows the guidance and instruction of the Center Director.
  • Performs other duties consistent with position responsibilities as assigned.
  • Adheres to organization policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a role model within and outside the organization.
  • Performs duties as workload necessitates.
  • Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues.
  • Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Meets department performance and productivity standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field of study.
  • 3-5 years of direct professional experience working in an early childhood setting.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain the state Food Manager Certification.
  • A strong understanding of child development, including the effects of trauma on development and the importance of social-emotional competency, is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, guardians, volunteers) and to foster a team environment.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must demonstrate an ability and to work with and respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.
  • Must be able to meet training and organization requirements for the position.
  • Must foster an environment that is solution-focused, dedicated, and compassionate to support the organization's mission, values, and strategic direction.
  • Must exhibit a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, valuing diverse perspectives and encouraging contributions by all team members.
  • Must possess or be able to qualify for and maintain a valid Arizona department of public safety level one fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and be insurable under the organization's automobile policy.
