POSITION: Instructional Coach
LOCATION: District Wide – As Assigned
REPORTS TO: Building Principal or designee
JOB GOAL:
- To assist the principal in providing a positive impact of student learning through enhancing teacher practices. This is not a supervisory position and DOES NOT include evaluation of colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to be successful:
- Five (5) years secondary teaching experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of foundational research on best practices
- Positive leadership skills
- Understanding/knowledge of different modes of data collection (formative and summative)
- Understanding/knowledge of methods for classroom data collection and analysis
- Ability to facilitate collaboration amongst adults
- Ability to immediately identify components of instruction and factors that are beneficial to student learning while observing instruction
- Consistent demonstration of effective instruction at the high school level
- Strong instructional strategy knowledge
- Demonstrated skills in proactive problem solving
- Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Observe all assigned teachers using a common observation tool to collect baseline data and document progress.
- Create a tiered system for providing support to teachers based on all levels of the implementation through coaching cycles.
- Provide instructional coaching to teachers using collaborative and guided coaching methods.
- Document methods and progress regarding all coaching activities.
- Maintain organized documentation of all support provided.
- Meet with assigned administrator(s) and other instructional coaches at consistent invervals as determined by site and district leaders.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
- Understand and implement the core practices of the coaching model.
- Collaborate with leaders to design systems and structures to engage teachers in coaching cycles.
- Collaborate with teachers and leaders to analyze student data to inform instructional decisions.
- Collaborate with leaders to plan and implement coaching actions based on trends in instructional practices
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Use an inquiry stance during PLCs with teachers to collaboratively identify high impact instructional strategies
- Support induction/on-boarding for new employees
- Develop Staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
- Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches.

- Must pass Department of Public Safety Fingerprint clearance check.
- Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain. All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa, (if necessary), will be needed for fingerprint clearance card and I-9 documentation prior to first day of work.
EVALUATION:
- Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
- Proof of Mumps, Measles and Rubella, (MMR) vaccination.
- Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
- Unofficial copies of transcripts will be accepted with applications, official transcripts will be due upon job offer*
Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation, (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, (NACES). Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.
