Intake Coordinator

The Intake Coordinator coordinates access to services for survivors of domestic violence who are looking for support from Casa Myrna’s Community Advocacy, Housing, and Counseling Programs. The Coordinator triages requests for the purpose of connecting survivors to immediate and/or ongoing services, conduct full intakes with survivors, and will provide some immediate advocacy, basic needs, community resources, and referrals. The intake coordinator will also support Community Advocacy Specialist with the more complex cases. The Intake Coordinator reports to the Community Advocacy Program Manager and works closely with all programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as the first point of contact and conducts full intakes and screening for survivors seeking support from Casa Myrna’s Community Advocacy, Housing, and Counseling Programs. Survivors may reach out through the Community HelpLine, SafeLink, email, other organizations, or may walk into our office.
  • Works closely with program supervisors to make sure the intakes are covering all the necessary information that each program may need to provide the best service.
  • Supports Advocacy Specialist with complex cases that need more resources and support.
  • Works with Resources Specialist to keep updated list of community resources most requested by survivors (e.g., food pantries, children services, state agencies, fuel assistance, mental health services, health care clinics).
  • Working with Finance, coordinates and tracks survivor and partner organization requests for emergency financial assistance (including gift cards, MBTA passes, and payments), hotel stays, and basic necessities. Prepare reports on assistance provided as needed for funders and resource planning.
  • Provides survivors with culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, bilingual (Spanish/English) advocacy, information, danger assessment and safety planning, crisis intervention, emotional support, access to resources, and referrals.
  • Provides referrals to other human service/social service agencies as appropriate.
  • Maintains current and accurate records of services, inputting every survivor who calls or walks-in into the database prior to referring them to the programs. Prepares periodic reports as required, and ensures accurate and timely reporting on services provided as required by agency protocols. Contributes to outcome and program evaluations.
  • Leads Casa Myrna’s Triage Committee.
  • Represents the agency at meetings with community collaborators and at other events as needed.
  • Works as a team player with other program and agency staff, particularly those in the residential/housing, counseling, and SafeLink.
  • Develops own professional development plan and attends trainings, meetings, and conferences within Casa Myrna and in the community.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor and agency.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Committed to Casa Myrna’s values and mission of ending domestic and dating violence and commercial exploitation and promoting social justice and social change.
  • Demonstrated experience working with survivors of domestic/dating violence, trauma, and abuse, and with marginalized communities, particularly communities of color.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ demonstrated experience working as an activist, community organizer, or advocate.
  • Familiarity with Boston-area community agencies and resources, particularly those serving homeless and/or low-income populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize appropriate, non-judgmental communication techniques when responding to survivors that illustrates sensitivity to their experiences and needs. Ability to work and advocate in a collaborative style with diverse ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic groups, as well as diversity based on ability/disability, sexual orientation, and religion.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, crisis management, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Must be very organized have close attention to detail.
  • Promote an atmosphere of respect and cooperation; maintain confidentiality regarding program participants.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) fluency required.
  • Ability to travel throughout Boston required; driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred.
Salary: $56,000-$61,000
Location: Boston; onsite position
Hours: full-time (4 days and 35 hours/week)
