Job Summary
This is the perfect role for someone who is energetic and wants to be a part of a team. We're looking for a candidate who can warmly interact with our patients. We are willing to teach the skills needed for this position.
Essential Job Functions
- Handles pre-testing and triaging of patients.
- Reviews and accurately documents patient medical history including medications.
- Accurately performs visual testing and measurements.
- Assesses patient needs relating to contact lenses requirements/problems.
- Educates and instructs patients on use and care of contact lenses.
- Acts as a resource to staff and doctors regarding patient care.
- Maintains an excellent rapport with patients/customers, staff, other offices, management, and doctors.
- Demonstrates knowledge of insurance information to aid in compliance with requirements of third party payers.
- Maintains and monitors supplies (i.e. drugs, contact lenses).
- Places orders and tracks contact lenses for patients to assure timely customer service.
- Dispenses contact lenses, including related products and information.
- Ensures high level of customer service excellence, including responsiveness, effective troubleshooting and resolution of inquiries.
- Participates in coverage and training for other Optometric Assistants within the existing office, as well as other offices.
- Supports doctors in the overall delivery of quality eye care services.
- Continues good relationships with vendors.
- Contributes to the goals, objectives, and overall success of daily operations and business as a whole.
- Participates in professional development opportunities.
- Performs other job-related duties and participates in special projects when needed.
Working Conditions/Physical/Mental Demands
Physical surroundings are that of a typical office & patient care facility; generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards. Minimal physical effort required; freedom of movement on a regular basis, handling of light materials. Travel to other locations as needed and/or required by essential job functions.
