Job Summary
Performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the Case Management department.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support in the Case Management department including answering/routing telephone calls/messages/emails, mail sorting, and scanning.
- Collaborates and communicates with nurses, social workers, physicians, revenue cycle, and outside vendors.
- Obtains insurance authorizations and denials for hospitalization and documents required information in the EMR as assigned.
- Communicates insurance clinical requirements to the utilization review (UR) nurse and documents in the EMR as assigned.
- Maintains assigned worques and calendars.
- May provide assistance to discharge planning with non-complex discharges.
- Assists with and prepares for onboarding of new team members.
- Assists with evaluating the office environment, revising procedures, improving efficiency of workflow, and initiating cost reduction programs
- May produce and maintain various statistical and financial reports, audits, and other department operational reports; Maintain the Community Benefit Tracker.
- May perform duties of purchasing agent for the department through requisition entry, equipment inventory, and record keeping in accordance with budget guidelines.
- May schedule and coordinate meetings and in-services.
- May assist with meeting agenda coordination, creation, meeting audio-visual set up, power-point presentations, and transcribing of meeting minutes.
- May assist with monitoring of department budget and contracts, regulatory compliance, and vendor relations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
- A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience required
- No licensure/certification/registration required
