Job Summary: 

We are currently seeking a Young-Adult Resource Coordinator for our youth initiative, Planning Alternatives & Creating Community (PACC) program within the Pretrial Services Department. The Young-Adult Resource Coordinator role involves working with justice system-involved 16–27-year-old participants. This role will be expected to engage with new SRP participants including conducting intake follow up within 48 hours of participants release from Manhattan Criminal Court Arraignments. This role’s priority will be to support the SRP participants in securing government benefits for clients that are eligible to apply. The Resource Coordinator will build meaningful relationships with participants both in the office and within the community, meeting them where they are and providing services that open new opportunities. Fieldwork within the larger NYC community is a component of the role, however, this role is based in the Harlem Office.

The PACC initiative at CASES is focused on supporting justice-involved youth aged 16-27. Our team, which includes Youth Case Coordinators, Youth Clinical Case Coordinators and Youth Engagement Specialists work to help young people achieve and maintain pretrial compliance while providing a range of youth-focused services, such as incentivized work programs, to support early intervention and long-term success. We emphasize proactive, sustained engagement in the community, fostering pathways to education and employment, and connecting participants with community partners dedicated to helping them reach their goals.

Salary: The salary for this role is $56,650 per year. 

Shift Hours: The Resource Coordinator position is full-time, working Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid Staff can work remote (from home or another suitable space) one day per week or more (in a typical week).

• Assist clients in applying for entitlements, concrete needs and other social service supports through various methods, including follow-up and reminder calls to ensure seamless recertification of benefits. 
• Assess life areas related to housing and other critical, immediate needs by leveraging support services to remove barriers and assist participants with achieving independence and overall self-sufficiency. 
• Provide individual counseling to participants around benefits-related issues and other challenges that may arise. 
• Link participants to social support services, by evaluating eligibility, preferences, and needs, as well as, accompanying participants to community-based services, as needed. 
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community providers and critical partners in the program’s network. This will require regular direct community engagement in the service area. 
• Develop and maintain a robust resource directory of community-based organizations and maintain ongoing communication and follow up with referred participants to drive success. 
• Consistently assess and collaborate with participants and program colleagues to determine any goals and/or areas of need that participants require support with 
• Be capable of effectively engaging with high-risk and vulnerable participants who present with mental health symptoms, substance use concerns, complex trauma histories and other challenges. 
• Work collaboratively with the team to identify community barriers to returning to court or maintaining agreed upon court mandated supervision schedule. 
• Serve as liaison with pretrial court services team to assist with confirming referral made and linked to support mitigation and court advocacy efforts. 

What we are looking for: 

• Minimum High School Diploma.
• Minimum of one-two years' experience working in human services, full time roles and/or internship experiences, with young adult (16-27y/o) populations who experience substance use, mental health, complex trauma, and/or justice-system involvement. 
• Extensive knowledge of community treatment, support services and resources tailored towards youth. 
• Knowledge of the criminal legal system, court processes and alternative to detention/incarceration services 
• Must be able to lift 5-10 lbs.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods.
• Must be able to navigate 5 boroughs of NYC and perform field work in a variety of weather conditions.

Additional, preferred skills we are looking for but are not required: 

• Associate and bachelor's degree in comparable professional degree is a plus 
• Spanish speaking a plus
