About the Role
The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as both a strategic advisor and operational lead within the Human Resources department. This position manages the day-to-day functions of HR while directly supervising a team of HR Generalists and HR Assistants, ensuring exceptional service delivery across all functional areas.
Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Senior HR Generalist is responsible for a wide scope of work, including employee relations, onboarding and orientation, compliance, workforce analytics, leave and benefits administration, and HRIS oversight. The role will also support organization-wide wellness, retention, and engagement initiatives, contributing to a culture of care, accountability, and performance.
This is an on-site, Monday through Friday position based in Tulsa, with occasional travel (less than 10%) to Oklahoma City. Because the organization operates around the clock, there may be times when after-hours availability is required to respond to urgent employee matters or support leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary resource for employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution, promoting fairness and consistency
- Oversee all aspects of the onboarding and orientation process, ensuring a smooth, engaging, and compliant start-to-finish experience for new hires
- Administer benefits and compensation programs and manage employee leave processes, including FMLA, ADA, and related accommodations
- Lead and mentor a team of HR Generalists and HR Assistants, fostering professional development and high standards of service
- Drive wellness, engagement, and retention initiatives that enhance the employee experience and support overall organizational health
- Maintain, update, and ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and practices
- Collaborate with leadership to assess workforce needs and deliver strategic HR support aligned with department and organizational goals
- Collect, analyze, and interpret HR data to identify trends and improve HR practices
- Manage the HRIS (preferably UKG), ensuring accurate records, robust reporting, and efficient processes
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal employment laws and industry-specific regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience
- Previous experience managing an HR team (Generalists and/or Assistants) is required
- Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, onboarding, leave management, benefits administration, and compliance
- Experience in wellness and engagement programming is strongly preferred
- Strong analytical skills and Excel proficiency, with the ability to use workforce data to inform decision-making
- Hands-on experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) is strongly preferred
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) is strongly preferred
- Experience in healthcare, EMS, or another highly regulated environment is preferred
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel between locations as needed
