SANITATION DRIVER: (PRN - AS NEEDED)
Overview:
A garbage truck driver operates a specialized heavy-duty truck to collect and transport solid waste from residential and commercial areas, following designated routes, ensuring safe and efficient waste collection by maneuvering the vehicle, operating loading mechanisms, and adhering to all safety regulations while maintaining proper documentation of collected materials and vehicle condition.

Vehicle operation: Safely operate the garbage truck along assigned routes, navigating traffic and tight spaces in residential neighborhoods.
Waste collection: Collect garbage and recyclables from designated bins and containers using the truck's loading mechanism.
Route adherence: Follow established schedules and routes to ensure timely waste collection.
Pre-trip inspections: Conduct thorough daily inspections of the truck, checking for mechanical issues, fluid levels, lights, and brakes.
Maintenance and reporting: Report any mechanical problems or needed repairs to supervisors.
Customer interaction: Respond to customer inquiries regarding waste collection procedures and address any concerns.
Record keeping: Maintain accurate logs of collected materials, routes, and any incidents.
Safety compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws and safety protocols related to waste handling and disposal.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid drivers license required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements preferred.
Ability to operate heavy machinery and understand its mechanics
Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy garbage containers
Strong spatial awareness and maneuvering skills
Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
Good communication and customer service skills
Ability to work in various weather conditions
