Facility Maintenance Tech
Cass Health is seeking a dependable and skilled Facility Maintenance Mechanic to join our Plant Operations team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of all facility systems and grounds. From HVAC and plumbing to emergency power and life safety systems, you’ll ensure our hospital operates smoothly for patients, visitors, and staff. This role includes preventive maintenance, work order management, and general facilities upkeep.
This position works four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday.
Rotating on-call coverage is required, including evenings and weekends.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in industrial or commercial construction or facility maintenance
- Experience/certification in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and/or wastewater, highly preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs for:
- HVAC and refrigeration system
- Boilers, medical gas, and plumbing systems
- Emergency lighting, generators, and fire suppression systems
- Energy Management and Building Automation systems
- Document all maintenance and service activities accurately and timely
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including those from the State Fire Marshal and Department of Inspections & Appeals
- Support safety by identifying and reporting hazards, assisting with incident response, and maintaining a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors
- Maintain hospital grounds year-round:
- Summer: mowing, trimming, weed control, watering
- Winter: snow and ice removal from walkways, parking areas, ambulance bay, and heliport
- Assist the Plant Operations Director with planning and implementation of special projects
- Participate in department training and independently seek out learning opportunities to improve technical skills
- Coordinate work for maximum efficiency and complete assignments promptly and professionally
- Follow all scheduling, attendance, and timekeeping policies
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the hospital’s mission and operational needs
