Job Description Summary:
As Principal Solutions Architect within (North America Solution Architect) team, you will design, architect, and implement solutions that support our Customers' Digital Transformation. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for solving complex technical issues, establishing patterns and practices, and setting standards for modernization, Software Quality Gate, move to cloud and other control tower initiatives for our customers.
A Principal Solution Architect will have broad experience from several past roles and leads technical solution specialists from the various Business Units, on both pre- and post-sale engagements, to design, present, and build solutions and propositions both in response to formal RFI/RFPs and to develop compelling unsolicited proposals.
The most effective Solution Architect requires a combination of IT and Business insight, as being able to articulate the value of CAST solutions in business terms to support their technical merits is an ever more critical attribute. The role has a pre-sale emphasis and calls for skills in setting Technical Direction and IT Strategy solutions. A Solution Architect also gets involved in arranging and leading workshops and briefings, Proofs of Concept and Technical Design Reviews. Experience across emerging technologies within Cloud, Data, Systems, and Security and experience in consultative selling and effective presentation skills are key to success in the role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategies for moving Distributed or Mainframes/Applications to a Distributed and/or Cloud Environment
- Strategies for implement baselining and technical debt reduction within large Environment
- Process modernization: Embrace an enterprise-wide DevOps discipline to deliver applications faster.
- Helping Customer and Systems Integrators design scalable, high availability application solutions.
- Technical leadership alongside customer business, development, and infrastructure teams. Creating proof of concept technology analysis and pilots.
- Conducting customer presentations and internal presentations/trainings to peer groups.
- Providing the architectural guidance and recommendations necessary to promote successful Customer engagements worldwide.
- Proven track record of partnering well across multiple functions and disciplines
- Understand and articulate complex business problem(s) customers are trying to solve for, to identify the right technology to bring forward to the customer
- Share customer feedback to product management and R&D to ensure client input is being considered for futures/roadmap
- Deliver services that allow for successful proof of concept and post-sales deployment
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish
- Handle objectives professionally, answers questions quickly and coherently, deals with challenges assertively and persuasively
- Mentors Presales Engineers
Required Qualifications:
- Technical Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred
- 5 years’ of experience leading customers with mainframe and legacy modernization initiatives.
- Knowledge of major Cloud Provider infrastructure and technologies, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker / Kubernetes.
- Analyzing on-premises environment applications and processes to formulate plans for modernizing workloads that achieve Customer’s desired business outcomes.
- Relevant Business and IT Architecture Certifications such as, AWS Solution Architect Professional, Microsoft AZURE Solution Architect, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) etc.
- Hands-on technical experience with distributed .Net or Java, as well ideally as mainframe
- Knowledge of Webservices, Microservices, APIs and exposing Application components to alternate platforms
