What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Logistics Manager position at Castle Contracting?
Position Summary:
Planning and scheduling of daily project equipment, small tools and material for each project. This role is responsible for ensuring each project has the equipment, small tools and warehouse stocked materials to effectively and efficiently perform our work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations:
- First point of contact for foreman needs and deliveries including equipment, small tools and warehouse stock items.
- Coordinate all deliveries and shop runner moves
- Coordinate and record project hauling needs
- Schedule all equipment mobilizations both internal and external
- Maintain relationships and seek out vendors and rental houses
- Establish and maintain stock material items that are reusable or are often used items stocked for convenience.
- Establish and maintain small tool inventory.
- Coordinate with asset/equipment manager for maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Coordinate with safety manager to maintain stock safety items and PPE.
- Superuser of Dispatcher software
- Responsible for planning and coordination of equipment rental strategy
- Evaluate yearly equipment usage/rental volume/equipment trends for use in purchase plans
Preconstruction:
- Provide information on vendors and available equipment and resources.
Project Management:
- Coordinate future project equipment needs with project managers
- Assist in project startup activities
Accounting:
- Provide data for use in equipment utilization reports.
- Export data from dispatcher for weekly equipment coding sheet
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in equipment logistics or fleet management within the civil construction industry
- In-depth knowledge of heavy construction equipment and related transport requirements
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and oversize/overweight permitting
- Proficient in using equipment or fleet management software (HCSS)
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, vendors, and leadership
- CDL or previous driving experience with heavy equipment transport is a plus
- Bachelor degree in logistics or similar preferred, but not required
