Here's what you will do:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating specialized machinery to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities and telecommunications infrastructure. When this position is not operating heavy equipment for the company, they will serve as a Ground Hand.
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment in construction, telecommunications, or utility environments.
- Knowledge of safe digging practices and underground utility identification.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow direction.
- Strong attention to detail and able to make good decisions.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments in a variety of weather conditions.
- Clean driving record is required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. CDL preferred.
Environmental and Physical Demands:
This position will be exposed to outdoor elements to include but not limited to extreme heat and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, sleet, wind, uneven terrain, road noise and traffic. Will routinely work around heavy equipment and tools with moving mechanical parts. This position requires lifting of materials in excess of 50lbs.
