What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAM Programmer position at Catalyst Acoustics Group?
Purpose: A CAM Programmer is to ensure efficient and accurate manufacturing processes.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Highly developed communication skills, including excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills are required. Collaborating with design teams is a daily task. Must be able to communicate verbally and or in writing as to work requirements, work in progress, and discrepancy issues. Interacts verbally and in writing with, employees, members of management, and others as necessary. Telephone and personal contact necessary. Must demonstrate tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and positive demeanor in performance of duties.
Mathematical Ability
Able to use math to add, subtract, multiply or divide and may work with fractions, decimals, or percentages. Convert from imperial to metric and vice versa.
Reasoning Ability
Able to follow instructions and/or directions requiring normal to extended periods of concentration. Requires ability to follow a course/sequence of action within specified procedures and to logically think through error issues to resolve or contact appropriate source. Must maintain normal mental alertness to assure accuracy. Must be able to organize work to ensure attention to detail and follow through.
Physical Demands
Routine physical demands for office environment. Operates personal computer, photocopier, printer, calculator, and telephone. Prolonged periods of sitting required. Occasional lifting of boxes (up to 25 pounds) as needed. Bending and squatting required. Must be able to traverse throughout office(s) and manufacturing plant(s). Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
Work Environment
Office. Safety glasses and hard soled shoes required in manufacturing areas. Exposed to minimal hazards.
Work Location: Manufacturing facility Ogden, UT; Working Hours (subject to change): 7:00 AM – 3:45 PM Monday – Friday or more when required. Lunch break is 45 minutes. Must be very reliable. Generally responsible for the safety of own work area.

- Responsible for creating and maintaining CAM programs that guide CNC machines in cutting and shaping wood products.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software: Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Mastercam is crucial for designing and programming manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of machining processes: Knowledge of various machining operations and materials used in wood manufacturing is essential.
- Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues which may include working with technical support in conjunction with maintenance
- Attention to detail: Precision is vital in ensuring quality and accuracy in production.
- Collaborating with design and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable is key.
- Analyze data to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Optimize tooling and monitor the life of tooling to ensure the proper amount is kept on hand. Help to limit down time of machines due to lack of tooling.
