The Employment Specialist is responsible for supporting job seekers enrolled in the Success Unlimited Programs at Ohio Means Jobs. This role focuses on helping individuals overcome barriers to employment by providing personalized career planning, job readiness training, employer connections, and ongoing support to secure and retain sustainable employment.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct intake assessments to identify client skills, interests, and employment barriers.
· Develop individual employment plans in collaboration with each client.
· Provide job readiness training including resume building, interview skills, and workplace etiquette.
· Coordinate and facilitate job search activities and career workshops.
· Network with local employers to develop job leads and placement opportunities.
· Monitor client progress and provide ongoing support after job placement.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation in case management systems.
· Collaborate with community partners and internal departments to ensure comprehensive client support.
· Attend team meetings and provide feedback on program improvement.
· Assist consumers in the Ohio Means Jobs Resource Room as needed
Qualifications
· Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
· Must have a valid driver’s license.
· High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates or Bachelors preferred.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to motivate and support individuals from diverse backgrounds.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Familiarity with Ohio Means Jobs systems and resources.
· Experience working with individuals facing significant employment barriers.
· Experience in workforce development, career counseling, or case management.
· Knowledge of local labor market trends and employer expectations.
