What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Support Specialist position at Catalyst Life Services?
A Peer Support Specialist provides peer to peer support/services to consumers in recovery from addiction and individuals who have received mental health services. The Peer Support Specialist will utilize their personal recovery/lived experience in providing support to promote greater independence and self-confidence to peer consumers. The Peer Support Specialist will work in a social club setting, engaging with those in the club.
Job Requirements: Lived experience, clear driving record for 3 years or more, must be Peer Specialist certified or willing to become certified, must complete required trainings for certifications or recertification
The Peer Support specialist performs a wide range of tasks to support peers in living their own lives, directing their own recovery as they strive to reach their full potential.
Work side by side with clients to:
Cultivate clients to make informed and independent choices
Help the client identify and build on their strengths
Assist clients in building healthy social networks within the community
Support and assist clients with working through their struggles to meet everyday tasks
Link and connect to community resources as needed to support their ongoing treatment and independence
