Role Summary:
As a Transportation Specialist, you will be an integral part of our transportation team, responsible for efficiently dispatching company trucks while also exploring and securing brokerage opportunities. Your hard work and problem-solving skills will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet and maximizing the potential for growth in the ever-evolving transportation industry.
Responsibilities:
· Dispatching and Routing:
· Effectively manage and schedule company trucks for pick-ups and deliveries.
· Coordinate with drivers to optimize routes, minimize delays, and ensure timely deliveries.
· Monitor shipment statuses, address any issues, and provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders.
· Respond promptly to unforeseen circumstances and make real-time adjustments to maintain efficiency.
Duties:
· Communicate with customers and carriers to find synergies that provide solutions for both the customers and the carriers.
· Identify new brokerage opportunities in the transportation market.
· Collaborate with carriers, shippers, and other industry partners to negotiate and secure transportation contracts.
· Leverage market knowledge and analytical skills to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
· Facilitate communication and documentation between all parties involved in brokerage transactions.
Problem Solving:
· Tackle challenges head-on, finding creative and effective solutions to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
· Proactively identify potential issues and take preventive measures to minimize disruptions.
· Act as a point of contact for troubleshooting and conflict resolution for drivers, customers, and partners.
Communication:
· Maintain clear and open communication with drivers, customers, and team members to ensure seamless coordination.
· Provide regular updates to the management team on operational performance and brokerage activities.
· Collaborate with various departments, including operations, sales, and finance, to streamline processes.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, transportation, or a related field is a plus.
· Proven experience in dispatching, transportation, or logistics is highly desirable.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in fast-paced environments.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
· Tech-savvy with proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
· A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and grow with the company.
