Maintenance Technician II

Basic Function: The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing routine and complex maintenance and repair activities on production equipment and facility systems in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures equipment efficiency, reliability, and performance while adhering to food safety. Technician II may assist in troubleshooting advanced mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems and provide support for Maintenance Technicians I.
Responsibilities:

Preventative Maintenance (PM):

Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment

Maintain accurate PM records and documentation
-
Troubleshooting and Repair:
-
Diagnose and repair electrical mechanical and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime.

Collaborate with production teams to identify equipment issues and develop issues.
Equipment Installation and Modification:
-
Assist in installing equipment and making modifications to existing equipment as needed.

Work with external vendors and contractors when required for equipment installation or specialized repairs.
Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to all safety policies and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures

Ensure that all repairs and maintenance are compliant with food safety and quality standards.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and safety programs.
Documentation and Reporting:

Record all maintenance activities, reports, and parts used in the computerized maintenance management system (MaintainX)

Report major equipment issues and recommendations for improvements to Plant Engineering.
Team Collaboration:

Work with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality, and Engineering to ensure equipment reliability.

Mentor and provide guidance to junior maintenance technicians.
Inventory Management:

Monitor spare parts inventory and requisition necessary materials for repairs and preventative maintenance.
Qualifications:
-
Education- High school Diploma or GED required. Technical diploma or certification in maintenance or a related field preferred.

Experience- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing environment.
Skills:
-
Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and equipment manuals

Experience with PLCs, VFD, and automation systems is preferred.

Knowledge of food safety standards, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP principles.

Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Basic computer proficiency.

Ability to weld, cut and fabricate to improve or repair equipment.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk and move throughout the facility for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

Ability to work in varying environments (cold, hot, wet, noisy, dusty)

Available for overtime work, weekends and on-call as required.
Work Schedule:
