The vice president of product development will be responsible for leading flavoring and formulation, as well as the program management to bring all products (line extensions, existing products, innovation) through commercialization (including scale up so that it is ready for manufacturing.) Additionally, this role will be responsible for marketing and innovation, including playing a critical role in customer QBRs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Flavoring and Formulation: Develop and optimize product formulations to meet quality, taste, costs, and nutritional requirements. Additionally identify and execute cost savings opportunities from a formulation perspective, including the minimization of E&O.
  • Program Management: Oversee all aspects of product development programs, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and key metrics.
  • Commercialization: Execute scale up of the products in order to make sure that the products are ready for manufacturing.
  • Marketing and Innovation: Drive marketing strategies and initiatives to promote product awareness and sales growth. Proactively identify market trends and consumer preferences to inform product innovation efforts.
  • Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs): Participate in customer QBR meetings to share market trends and relevant innovations for key customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutritional Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product development within the nutraceutical or related industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and launching innovative products that meet consumer needs and drive business growth.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Deep understanding of requirements and industry standards for nutraceutical products.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Safety Responsibility Statement

Supports a culture of safe production and operations; follows all safety rules and procedures. Actively participates in the safety program by: engaging in training activities to learn what constitutes a safety hazard; reporting safety concerns to the manager, submitting safety suggestions, and correcting or reporting to the appropriate people when an employee sees a workplace health or safety hazard, until it is resolved. Assists with communicating safety information to new employees. Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.
