Job Summary
The Lead Phlebotomist at Village Health Partners (now a part of Catalyst Physician Group) will oversee phlebotomy operations across all sites, perform blood draws with precision, and mentor other staff members in a Primary Care office setting. Role And Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide guidance to other phlebotomists on laboratory procedures
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures to collect blood samples with a high level of accuracy
- Communicate effectively with patients to provide a comfortable experience, addressing any concerns or anxieties
- Verify patient identity and ensure all orders match lab order from EMR
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well stocked phlebotomy station
- Collaborate with medical staff to manage sample priorities and ensure timely test results
- Maintain laboratory equipment, inventory, and supplies ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Follow safety and infection control procedures, using PPE and disposing of sharps appropriately
- Assist with other clinical tasks as needed and support the overall efficiency of the office
- Active Certified Phlebotomist (CPT) required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of Lead Phlebotomy experience
- Knowledge of CLIA Waiver requirements
- Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, specimen handling, and laboratory safety protocols
- Experience with medical EMR systems
- Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA rules and regulations, Bloodborne Pathogen & OSHA Safety procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members
- Reside within a 45-minute commute to Plano, Frisco, or McKinney
- Previous experience in a Primary Care office setting
- CPR certification
- Athena EMR experience
- Compensation commensurate with experience
