Job Summary
As a Phlebotomy Supervisor, you will lead laboratory staff in patient care and compliance. This role involves supervising Phlebotomy Technicians, managing departmental operations, and ensuring adherence to quality control and compliance standards. You will also be responsible for staff development, performance management, and maintaining efficient workflows in a fast-paced environment. This role will require travel and support to clinics when short staffed or in high volume times.
Role And Responsibilities
- Supervise Phlebotomy Technicians across multiple clinics. The Phlebotomy Supervisor is responsible for multiple locations within the district.
- Responsible for laboratory staffing levels, including interviewing, selection, and training in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Lead the laboratory staff at a given locations, including performance management, employee engagement, staff development, monitoring time and attendance, and approving all time off requests.
- Ensure efficient and effective departmental operations, including department quality control and compliance adherence.
- Ensure all EMR/EHR systems have correct testing information for patients. Ensure workflow is effective from laboratory software regarding tracking, quality control, maximizing reimbursement, and reporting capabilities.
- Serve on committees, attend meetings, and participate in continuing education to maintain awareness of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Maintain adequate levels of approved supplies and equipment, including ordering laboratory equipment and testing supplies.
- Identify and implement processes that aid efficiency and productivity of the practice.
- Promote and ensure all clinical quality metrics are met.
- Follow AIDET guidelines and focus on delivering patient care.
- Ensure all patient issues are resolved timely and efficiently while providing a high level of confidentiality.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years' experience in a leadership role.
- Phlebotomy certification required.
- Follows organization and OSHA safety rules and procedures.
- Upholds HIPAA/PHI regulations.
- Punctual and dependable for assigned shifts.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills.
- 5 years' experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Experience with ATHENA EMR.
- Office environment.
- Sitting, standing, walking, and/or moving up to 8 hours per day.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds.
