Job Summary :
The Project / Plant Engineer will be responsible for managing engineering projects and overseeing plant operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams including, but not limited to, production, maintenance, and quality assurance, to deliver high-quality projects aligned with organizational goals. In addition, optimize production processes, implement new / innovative technologies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. As well as, coordinate engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Planning & Coordination : Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of engineering projects.
- Technical Oversight : Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, from design through to execution and final handover.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain detailed records of project progress, including reports, schedules, budgets, and resources. Present updates to senior management and stakeholders. In addition, write or lend technical assistance in writing work Instructions, machine operation Instructions or training material.
- Risk Management : Identify potential risks, create mitigation plans, and resolve technical issues to ensure project objectives are met.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure all engineering activities adhere to applicable standards and codes. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and quality. Have or gain understanding, experience or knowledge concerning the food industry, specifically SQF.
- Vendor & Contractor Management : Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials, services, and project milestones.
- Compliance : Ensure that all projects comply with State, local and national laws and regulations concerning, worker safety standards (OSHA), food safety (FDA, SQF), environmental standards (Mass DEP and EPA), Mass Plumbing code, Mass Electrical code, (UL) and all other applicable standards and regulations.
- Project Management :
Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
Monitor and analyze plant operations to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, safety, and product quality.
Implement process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Ensure all engineering practices comply with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and company policies.
Provide technical support for production equipment and processes, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Maintain accurate documentation of engineering processes, project progress, and compliance metrics.
