Job Summary
Catawba College is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registrar to lead the Office of the Registrar in supporting student success, academic policies, and institutional operations. The Registrar will oversee student records, course registration, graduation certification, and compliance with accreditation and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee scheduling, student registration, grade collection, transcripts, transfer credits, certification of enrollment and degree completion, eligibility certification for student-athletes, and degree audit process for graduation.
- Certify students for graduation and confer degrees.
- Maintain the accuracy, security, confidentiality, and integrity of student academic records in compliance with institutional policies and external regulations at all times.
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, accreditation standards, external reporting obligations (e.g., IPEDS, National Student Clearinghouse), and other regulatory standards regarding the confidentiality and security of student records.
- Work closely and collaboratively with other administrators, departments, and faculty governing bodies and committees, to educate, provide advice, interpret, and ensure compliance with existing Catawba College academic policies and procedures.
- Supervise and support registrar staff, fostering a collaborative and service-oriented environment.
- Effectively utilize and maintain student information system (Ellucian Banner) to maintain accurate data and streamline operations.
- Lead efforts in process improvement, data analysis, and technological enhancements for student record management.

- Updates and maintains the College Catalog (Coursedog).
- Maintenance of curriculum changes/modifications/additions within Coursedog and Scribe systems.
Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, student services, or a related field preferred; a bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a registrar’s office or related higher education administration role.
Critical Skills/Expertise
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations regarding student records and academic compliance.
- Commitment to student success, equity, and institutional excellence.
- Comprehensive understanding of Ellucian Banner and Degreeworks
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Argos or a similar academic database.
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.

- Ability to interpret and abide by Catawba College policies and procedures and FERPA guidelines.
