Catawba County Library System is recruiting for a professional Librarian III with excellent customer and information services, programming, collaboration, and outreach skills, who is enthusiastic about the value of early literacy and lifelong learning. The County seeks a superior coach and facilitator who can inspire teamwork and commitment while serving as the supervising librarian at the St. Stephens Branch Library. This Librarian III position will help implement the library’s comprehensive vision and mission - to empower lives and build our community by bringing people, information and ideas together. As the supervising librarian, this position facilitates and provides professional library services to customers of all ages, meeting the needs of the St. Stephens community and overseeing branch operations and personnel. Schedule includes rotating evenings and weekend to open/close library.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides excellent customer service through a full range of circulation desk services, including checking in and out materials, emptying book drop, setting up library card accounts and resolving account issues, locating reading materials, conducting sales of materials and supplies, accepting fees, placing holds, and transferring items. Helps to maintain a welcoming, friendly, and inclusive environment in the library.Plans, coordinates, facilitates, and actively promotes a variety of inclusive library programs, services, and outreach initiatives; actively engages with the community through partnerships with local organizations, participation in community events, and collaboration with schools and other educational institutions.Provides excellent customer service by providing advanced reference, research, and technology assistance to library users.Provides excellent customer service by assisting patrons in the use of computers, personal technology devices, copiers, scanners, faxes, and the library’s online resources.Collaborates with the collection development team to select new resources, conduct collection assessments, and evaluate materials for potential deselection, enhancing the library's collection.Assist in the development and enforcement of library policies and procedures.Maintains all library resources including print, non-print and periodicals to facilitate user access. Shelves all materials and performs shelf maintenance.Designs and creates displays that highlight culturally diverse populations and/or promote new or interesting library resources.Supervises library operations including opening/closing, staff scheduling, daily workflow, manages emergencies, addresses patron concerns, and handles facility issues.Oversees recruitment, interviewing, and selection of new team members, interns, and volunteers; Implements effective onboarding and training for seamless integration.Ensures running of reports, administering surveys, ordering/maintaining supplies for branch, and maintain statistics for library outcomes.As supervisor, provides leadership in training, coaching, and conducting annual employee evaluations.Participates in professional development activities and contributes feedback for employee performance appraisals.Reconciles cash register, coin op machines, and Friends of the Library funds.
