What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Instructor of CPR and AED position at Catawba Valley Community College?
Adjunct faculty members provide instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, as needed basis. Courses may be seated, online, or hybrid.
Part-time faculty postings are a part of Catawba Valley Community College's efforts to expand our pool of adjunct instructors. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time, however, applications from qualified applicants will be kept on file and may be contacted at a later date.
Examples of Duties
Provide effective instruction to students online and/or in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance.
Ensure teaching and working environment (classroom, lab, shop) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards.
Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines.
Qualifications
Education requirements:
Applicants must be a certified American Heart Association CPR & AED Instructor. A Master's degree in Exercise Science or Health and Physical Education, or a closely related field is preferred.
Must be a good team member and be willing to update skills as needed. Must be able to work effectively with diverse student populations. Educational philosophy must be compatible with the role of the community college and with best practices in health and fitness education.
Knowledge of:
Principles and procedures of academic and institutional program development in relevant field
Current trends, research, developments, and resources in relevant field
Federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as they relate to students and teaching
Ability to:
Create effective instruction for delivery both online and in the classroom
Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Work effectively in diverse teams, both within assigned department and cross-functionally across the college
Interpret and apply college goals, policies, and procedures
Maintain any relevant equipment and supplies related to instruction

All adjunct positions are contingent upon enrollment needs and funding.

Copies of all unofficial degree transcripts, including coursework completed and degree conferred, must be provided during the on-line application process. Official transcripts are required to be forwarded to the CVCC Personnel Office upon hire.
