Summary of Performance Expectations:
Provides clinical social work, counseling, and case management services for patients living with HIV and/or AIDS in the outpatient setting. The role of medical interpreter for CVHS is to facilitate the exchange of communication between a patient and a provider as verbatim as possible in consideration of cultural practices, context, slang, and linguistic variation. Excellent oral communication skills and ability to exercise sensitivity and patience in interactions with patients, families, and staff in stressful situations while maintaining confidentiality, and awareness of cultural differences.

Required
Education and Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services (limited to sociology, public health, psychology) or an equivalent combination of both.
- Certification from an independent medical interpreter school or program.
- Master’s degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Work Experience:
- Two years of previous experience (may include internship while obtaining college degree) with the provision of care coordination services to patients from underserved populations. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
- Previous experience in social work with patients living with HIV and/or AIDS.
