What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIM Privacy Analyst / Health Information Management / Full Time position at Catawba Valley Medical Center?
Summary of Performance Expectations:
Responsible, under the direction of the HIM Director/Privacy Officer, for analyzing and safeguarding the privacy and security of electronic medical records (EMRs) to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, internal policies, and relevant state, federal, and accrediting standards. Monitors and investigates potential privacy breaches, tracks compliance trends, and supports organizational initiatives to enhance data privacy. Facilitates provider support and education on privacy-related matters, ensures data integrity across health information systems, and assists with deficiency monitoring and reporting. Assists in addressing HIPAA breaches and responding to Safety Process Opportunity Tool (SPOTS). Assist HIM Director in Education related to Privacy (HIPAA). In additionally, responsible for analysis of inpatient and outpatient electronic medical records to ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations as well as state, federal and accrediting requirements. Responsible for deficiency monitoring and provider suspension/reinstatement. Assists providers with record completion.
Education & Credentials:
Required
Associate degree in Health Information Technology with Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification or 7 years of experience in Health Information Management or a related field. Certification in Compliance or Privacy with 6 months of hire.
Preferred
Work Experience:
Required
One year of experience in a healthcare setting with exposure to Health Information Management (HIM) concepts. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
Preferred
One or more years of analysis experience in an HIM department.
