Summary of Performance Expectations:
Responsible for surveillance of healthcare-associated infections in accordance with the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) definitions. Conducts rounding for compliance with infection prevention polices and procedures throughout the healthcare system. Communicates with the Primary Care and/or Attending physician when necessary regarding infectious disease conditions and treatment. Functions as the primary infection prevention resource in the absence of the Director of Infection Prevention.
Education & Credentials:
Required
- Graduate of accredited nursing program.
- Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.
- BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Preferred
Master’s degree in nursing or related healthcare field. Certification in specialty area.
Work Experience:
Required
Five years of previous nursing experience. Will provide training and on-the-job experience. Incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
Preferred
Two years infection prevention experience in acute care or ambulatory care facility.
