JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR/CENTRAL OFFICE SCHOOL-AGE CHILD CARE PROGRAM - QUEST
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
BENEFITS STATUS: Full-Time
SALARY (MONTHLY): $1415-6313
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Administers the QUEST Child Care Programs for all Catawba County Schools’ Elementary sites. Responsible for direct supervision of Central Office QUEST positions and shared supervision of school-based QUEST staff. In addition to the generic duties and responsibilities below, a list of more specific duties may be included according to the needs of the individual position. Reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Operations.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, B-K, Child Development, Social Work, or Human Services
- Must hold Level III NC Early Childhood Administration Credential
- Must have 750 hours of verifiable experience performing administrative duties in a licensed child care program serving school-age students
- Minimum of 3 years of successful management experience in a preschool or school-age child care setting
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Organization, oversight, development, and monitoring of all QUEST programming, including, but not limited to, CACFP
- Collaboration of QUEST programming with classroom teachers, EC teachers, Principals, and parents as needed to facilitate an engaging and safe program for all students enrolled
- Budget development for the operation of all QUEST programs for 12 12-month operation; oversight of spending and income revenues; coordinates grant funding opportunities
- Hiring of central office and school-based staff for QUEST programs. QUEST will collaborate closely with CCS Human Resource staff to facilitate the prompt placement of staff
- Ensures attainment and maintenance of top-quality Star-Rated Licensure of all QUEST sites; monitors DCDEE compliance visit summaries; collaborates with DCDEE/DHHS staff as required
- Coordinate the operation of QUEST programs with the culture and academic focus of each site as determined by the QUEST Director and Elementary Principals
- Awareness and willingness to learn DCDEE / DHHS policies, rules, and regulations as they relate to the child care setting
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Facilitate Child and Adult Care Food Program participation, and Summer Feeding Program participation for QUEST sites as needed
- Maintains positive and professional relationships with key community partners, DCDEE, DHHS, CACFP, Department of Social Services, 4-H Cooperative Extension Office, Catawba County Environmental Health, Public Libraries, Catawba Science Center, and other public or governmental entities as needed
- Ensures annual performance evaluations are conducted for all QUEST staff in conjunction with Human Resource Department policies and procedures
- Prepares and provides updates and presentations to the Board of Education when requested
- Schedule central office QUEST leadership for regular site-based observation and feedback for the Program Coordinator at each site
- Schedule and coordinate monthly Program Coordinator meetings; responsible for Program Coordinator leadership development
- Fill in /sub as needed to support effective program function and quality
- All other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Department and/or the Curriculum and Instruction Department
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly, 50 pounds infrequently. Must be able to walk for a large portion of the day and stand for extended periods, sometimes exceeding one hour. Must be able to crouch, kneel, stoop, and reach as needed.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to subordinates or assistants.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read regulations, instructions, forms and documents and to implement and utilize these successfully.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.

Must be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of professionals interacting with child care services.
