Job Description: Director of Publishing Operations
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Coaching
- Direct management of 50% of the production team
- Supervise team members and conduct 1:1 coaching sessions
- Resolve project-related questions and escalations
Vendor & Resource Management
- Supervise in-house designers and illustrators
- Track workload and plan for headcount needs
Sales & Print Support
- Provide quotes for special services (e.g. manuscript clean-up, transcription, indexing)
- Support Print Director as needed
Distribution & Royalties
- Manage support requests with Ingram
- Handle author royalty invitations and support
Reporting & Metrics
- Own weekly complete title reports
- Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and production metrics
- Forecast workload and staffing needs
Quality Control & Standards
- Maintain publishing quality standards
- Review output for accuracy and consistency
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Act as liaison between production and other departments
- Drive workflow improvements
Project & Schedule Management
- Oversee production timelines
- Address delays and corrective actions
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process enhancements
- Foster a culture of efficiency and innovation
Performance Management & Training
- Conduct performance reviews and feedback sessions
- Oversee training and development initiatives
