This internship provides hands-on experience in digital preservation, data organization, and project management in a professional setting. As a Digital Asset Management Intern, you will play a key role in preserving our company’s legacy while gaining valuable skills in digital archiving.
Position Overview:
The primary function of this role is to digitize old negatives and film strips into digital formats while organizing and maintaining our existing digital archives on company servers. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with day-to-day digital asset management tasks and on-site job photography as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Key Digitization Tasks:
- Clean and prep negatives & film strips for scanning.
- Operate film scanners and scanner software to convert negatives and film strips into high-resolution digital formats.
- Enhance and clean up digital scans as needed using image editing software.
Asset Organization:
- Organize digitized images and documents into structured folders on company servers.
- Create and maintain metadata for files to ensure easy retrieval.
Workflow Improvements:
- Assist in optimizing processes for future digital asset management.
- Recommend file naming conventions and tagging strategies.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure the archive aligns with company needs.
Additional Responsibilities:
- As needed, assist in downloading, formatting, and organizing new job site photos from foremen via Dropbox to ensure proper storage on our server.
- There may be opportunities for on-site job photography, so reliable transportation is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Photography, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Museum Studies, or related fields.
- Familiarity with digital scanning tools (e.g., Nikon CoolScan or equivalent) and file management systems.
- Basic knowledge of image editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom).
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
- Interest in preserving historical documents and assets.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with digital archives or asset management systems.
- Knowledge of construction or masonry industries is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
