Position Overview
The Vice Principal for Academic Affairs is a full-time, 12-month leadership position reporting directly to the Principal. This individual serves as a model for teaching faculty by demonstrating a proven track record of student achievement and a commitment to fostering teacher development. The Vice Principal plays a critical role in driving instructional excellence, equity, and student success.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Provide instructional support and lead coaching cycles for teaching staff to enhance instructional practices.
- Serve as a key member of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), contributing to the development and execution of school-wide instructional priorities.
- Plan, facilitate, and participate in professional development aligned with school goals and instructional improvement strategies.
- Teach one section of a class in the candidate’s content area.
- Collect, analyze, and utilize data to inform instructional practices, identify academic strengths and weaknesses, and support student progress.
- Evaluate the quality of curricular resources.
Academic Programming
- Oversee and coordinate academic celebrations, including awards assemblies, National Honor Society inductions, and Commencement.
- Collaborate with the AP College Board coordinator to manage registration processes for scholars and teachers, ensuring compliance and successful implementation.
- Collaborate with the Director of Counseling and Principal to support course selection, placement, and academic planning for students.
- Coordinate the evaluation and IEP processes with Boston Public Schools (BPS) to ensure compliance and effective support for scholars with special needs.
- Manage summer school operations, including communication, registration, monitoring, and grade reporting.
Community and Faculty Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with faculty, staff, scholars, and families to address academic concerns and interventions, fostering collaborative solutions.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation of faculty and staff, ensuring alignment with school values and priorities.
Professional Growth
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed of emerging research and best practices in education.
