Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bounds core mission is to build stronger, more equitable school communities by delivering free experiential learning programs that boost academic success and foster personal growth. Our research-based programs blend STEM, social-emotional, and challenge-based learning, giving students a unique opportunity to build life skills alongside academic ones.
Whom do we serve (students, clients, customers)
We offer programs for Boston Public School middle school and high school students, fee-for-service programs for school and youth groups, and leadership development programs for professionals. We also fund our transformational programs by hosting private and corporate events and weddings.
What is the OPPORTUNITY?
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Manager will drive day-to-day operations for the Development Team, donor visits and the Corporate Volunteer Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Engagement Events and Activities
- Manage and support the execution of stewardship and cultivation events, including, but not limited to, managing bulk mailings, organizing event materials (nametags, registration lists, etc.), and assisting with event set-up and on-site registration.
- Manage the logistics of donor site visits from start to finish. This includes researching ideal on Island days for visitors, scheduling boats, meals, and golf carts, coordinating with on-Island staff, communicating with donors in a clear and informative manner, preparing materials, and conducting post-visit follow-up.
- Serve as contact and support for Boston Marathon runners. Manage key relationships with Boston Athletic Association.

QUALIFICATIONS
LOCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
This position reports to both Mainland and Island offices, as well as hybrid style work. Hours are more variable during the height of the season, and will include occasional nights and weekends, while allowing for a more regulated schedule and additional flexibility during the off season.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work environment is dynamic and fast-paced. Work may include time spent outside in inclement / harsh weather, sitting at a desk 6 hours per day, etc.
Commute includes a 25 minute boat ride to and from Thompson Island
Employees who are able are encouraged to participate in loading / unloading supplies (varying weights up to 45lbs) for CSIOBS from the MVOB when appropriate.
