What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Nurse position at Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston?
The Camp Nurse is responsible for the oversight of the campers’ health needs.The Camp Nurse will work 6 to 8 hours on the first day of each session, and 2 hours per day for each subsequent day of the session. The Camp Nurse will carry a cell phone and remain on call throughout each session.
Essential FUNCTIONS
- Check all health records prior to commencement of each session.
- Document problems and/or concerns and specific medical information for camp staff.
- Consult with campers’ physician(s) regarding specific health needs when appropriate.
- Meet campers and caretakers at bus pick up to check in campers.
- With Camp Manager, check in all non-bus transported campers at camp.
- Review all medications and set up medication log.
- Review medication administration with Camp Director, Camp Manager and Asst. Manager.
- Administer all morning medications and check in with campers with any health concerns.
- Carry cell phone for 24-hour consultation with camp staff while camp is in session.
- Provide instruction to staff regarding the management of allergies, medication, and other health concerns of campers.
- With Camp Manager and Asst. Camp Manager, run safety drills with campers on the first day of each session.
Qualifications
- Must be an RN or LPN, RN preferred
- Certified in advanced First Aid, CPR, and AED
- Experience working with latency age youth
- Live within 15 minute commuting distance of camp in case of emergency
