General Description
Under general supervision, assesses clients for career training and/or education programs, provides career counseling
and technical assistance and resources to enroll in clients desired program. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff, and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assesses refugee prior education or employment, language ability, and transferable skills
- Assists client in the development of the client’s career development plan
- Provides career counseling and orientation to U.S. work culture
- Provides job-related transportation and translation
- Maintains an up-to-date confidential file on each client
- Assists clients with all steps of career training and education enrollment: choosing program, application, financial aid review, ect.
- Matches clients’ availability, interests, and English level to career/education programs
- Provides regular follow-up and reassessment as described in the department guidelines
- Activates plan to meet the clients current needs
- Coordinates activities with employment services staff
- Files reports as required
- Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings
- Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.
- Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Business Administration, or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Credentials: Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License.
Experience: Two years of experience in employment services field. Ability to speak a second language is preferred.
