Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc., one of the largest human services providers in California, operates a variety of programs to serve the poor and strives to find permanent solutions to crisis situations by offering clients the tools and resources needed to achieve greater self-reliance and stability in their lives.
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Child Care Teacher is responsible for assisting with tutoring, activities, games, and homework. After School Program, generally 2 : 30pm-6pm , is a bi-lingual after-school tutoring and mentoring, sports and recreational activities program for youth in 4th and 5th grades. The program also offers a summer program that includes fun activities, lunches and snacks. The program is seeking an energetic, reliable Child Care Teacher to work with the children after school and provide an environment that is safe and positive but, must also be responsible for planning and organizing daily activities.
Responsibilities :
- Provide instructional learning activities for the purpose of improving academic, physical and social skills.
- Provide tutoring and assist children with their homework.
- Assist Program Coordinator with program development
- Provide clerical and record keeping functions
- Assist with daily supervision of the program
- Maintain a safe environment for children while in the center
- Act as a role model and mentor.
- Maintain communication with children and their parents
- Promote good habits to encourage learning and development
- Maintain a clean work environment for the children
