POSITION SUMMARY:
Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings by providing the ability to thrive in a fast paced and sensitive Industry all while bringing a positive attitude, compassionate heart, hustle, and self-motivation to the workplace. Enjoying the learning process, using a smart phone, good memory retention, and being able to positively accept regular feed-back are all keys to this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Organize home and items for sale, donation, or trash. This will include sorting through all the rooms, drawers, cabinets, and closets; grouping and sorting items of higher and lower value.
- Group similar items together for a cohesive environment and successful sale.
- Sort items of higher value to be focused on for research and pricing.
- Research higher value items and items of special interest on mobile applications.
- Individually price and tag all inventory (with supervision of Manager)
- May assist in arranging city permits, dumpster service, etc. if applicable.
- May assist Manager with furniture and décor placement.
- Assisting in placement of interior/exterior signs and marking areas for public safety.
- Exceptional customer service through answering customer questions and helping customers with items to be held, packaged or loaded if necessary.
- Rearranging and shifting furniture after sold items leave during the sale.
- May assist in using the Square POS system on a mobile phone or register.
- Calling customers on bid placements and retrieving payment/contact information.
- Sort, pack and box items for donation pickup.
- Organize and Sort items to be trashed, and make ready for trash day pickup.
- May assist in scheduling items for consignment, donation, etc.
- Broom sweep home, garage etc., wipe down counters and light vacuuming if needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrate a passion for the mission of Catholic Charities
- Catholic Charities promotes a diverse workforce. This requirement includes any public speech, demonstration, or writing including the use of social media or other digital technologies
- Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required
- Previous retail experience or customer service.
- General knowledge of second-hand market pricing of furniture and décor a plus.
- Familiar with smart phones for Square POS system, smart phone research applications and social media.
- Must work some Saturdays during sale week/s.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment that is very diverse.
- Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri Driver’s license, dependable transportation, current vehicle insurance and a verified safe driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, lifting, moving and climbing stairs.
- Must have the physical ability to complete assignments in a variety of environments which may include extreme heat, humidity, dust, smoke, pet contamination, cleaning supplies, etc.
