Responsibilities
Basic Function/Purpose: Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Maintenance Specialist will perform general maintenance and repair, coordinate client relocation, and ensure work orders are completed efficiently, correctly and within the specified time frame.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Maintain and perform minor repairs including but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems/units. Remodel and maintain properties as required including sheet rocking, painting, and masonry. Work with program staff to help relocate clients from one unit to another including the physical movement of client belongings, and logistical coordination. Provide on-site supervision of maintenance staff to ensure that work orders are completed correctly and on-time. Provide daily updates to Operation Coordinator on the completion of assigned work orders and update the work order system as appropriate. Assist as needed for routine inspections of units. Maintain facilities in accordance with federal, state, and local codes. Provide and maintain a safe environment, reporting unsafe or unsanitary conditions in the units to the Operations Coordinator. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
Starting Pay For This Position Is: $19.00/ Hour
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:
- Two year degree, business or trade school degree
- Three (3) years relevant experience. (Experience is property maintenance and repair preferred.)
Licenses/Certificate/Clearances:
- Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License,
- Registered & Insured Vehicle
- State Central Registry Clearance
Skills/Abilities:
- Basic computer skills,
- knowledge of building maintenance and repairs,
- creative problem solving skills,
- good interpersonal/social communication skills;
- ability to lift 50 pounds.
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:
- Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings and work at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
