Director of Facilities

WAGE RANGE: $100,000 -115,000
JOB SUMMARY: Catholic Charities seeks a detail-orientated and solution-focused people leader, who is compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally aware to join us as our Director of Facilities.
This position provides key leadership to the agency’s facilities department and programs to ensure the effective operation and administration/interpretation of policies and procedures for users of the facilities. Provides direct or indirect supervision of the work of respective supervisors and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategy and Planning (20%)
- Works closely with decision-makers to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective solutions for effective facilities management.
- Partners with senior leadership to strategically plan and execute facility expansions, shutdowns, moves and new construction efforts. Partners with legal and program staff to draft and negotiate facility lease agreements.
- Creates, implements and maintains department repair and capital improvement and capital equipment budgets. Establishes criteria for repair versus replacement. Examines energy consumption patterns to plan for long-term maintenance and modernization.
Building Management (30%)
- Develops, coordinates and administers preventive maintenance programs for all buildings and associated security and environmental control systems.
- Initiates and monitors appropriate procedures to quickly respond to facility-related issues that inconvenience staff and/ or routinely conducted operations.
Facility Services (30%)
- Assumes overall responsibility for security and custodial services for all facilities. Responsible for maintaining and updating as needed a comprehensive safety plan, a process for facilities opening and lock-down and an emergency notification procedure.
- Leads recycling, waste disposal efforts and implements processes and procedures for maintaining a safe working environment.
Vehicle Management (10%)
- Plans, directs, and coordinates the operation of vehicle maintenance and repair programs for agency- owned and leased vehicles.
- Plans and administers a preventive maintenance and vehicle replacement program for agency-owned and leased vehicles.
Customer Support (10%)
- Establishes service level commitments that meet organizational needs. Oversees the development and management of metrics for measuring the performance against commitments.
- Maintains regular written and in-person communications with organizational leadership and end users regarding pertinent facilities activities, including deliverables against service commitments.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- Bachelor’s Degree with major in engineering, property management or related field preferred and five (5) years of relevant experience with similar operations.
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience required without a degree.
- Advanced training in facilities and project management is highly desired.
- Demonstrated expertise in all areas of facilities and project management, staff supervision, and budget management necessary.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Must have experience using computerized maintenance management system.
- Proven success working with all levels in an organization.
- Capability to work with diverse populations required.
- Able to articulate a sound philosophy of management techniques and recognize teamwork concepts.
- Has the ability to work with diverse and/or low-income populations, including those who may be experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and/or mental illness.
