Job Summary: The Affordable Housing Leasing Specialist plays a critical role in providing quality housing opportunities to individuals and families in need. This position focuses on leasing affordable housing unites while ensuring compliance with government regulations, fair housing laws, and property policies. The Leasing Specialist is responsible for building positive relationships with prospective tenants, current tenants, and property management staff to foster a welcoming community environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist prospective tenants through the leasing process, including showing unites, explaining rental terms and helping with the completion of applications
- Ensure eligibility of applicants be verifying income and completing required background checks
- Maintain knowledge of affordable housing programs (ie Section 8, RD, HUD, LIHTC) and ensure compliance
- Respond to inquiries and provide exceptional customer service to prospective and current residents
- Prepare and maintain leasing documentation including housing applications, leases and certifications ensuring accuracy and timelines
- Collaborate with Property Management team to address tenant concerns, support retention efforts and foster a positive living experience
- Assist in community outreach and marketing efforts promoting properties and attracting qualified applicants
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
4 years of related experience in leasing or property management of which 2 years in affordable housing
Strong understanding of affordable housing regulations and fair housing laws
Proficiency in Microsoft office suite
Detail oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills
