Position Summary:
Provide educational instruction and assessment for children grades K-3 during our 6 week bilingual summer camp program. This camp aims to improve students’ ESL (OELPS/OELPA) scores, focusing on reading and math skills. Teachers will create an engaging and supportive learning environment that fosters language development and academic growth.
- Lesson Planning: Develop and implement lesson plans that align with ESL standards and focus on reading and math improvement.
- Instruction: Deliver bilingual instruction in both English and the target language, ensuring comprehension and engagement.
- Assessment: Evaluate OELPS/OELPA assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Communication: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and camp activities.
- Facilitate: Assist with outings and other VU activities that promote social, educational growth and provide opportunities for kids to engage in physical activity. Assist with meals as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Qualifications And Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- Teaching certification for K-12. (preferred)
- Experience in ESL instruction and bilingual education.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for working with young children and fostering their academic growth.

Work Environment:
Inside typical office environment, heated and air conditioned. Temperature 68 to 80 degrees F. Ambient noise, low, not requiring hearing protection. No other personal safety equipment required.
