I. JOB TITLE: Facilities & Operations Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: St. Aloysius Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

REPORTS TO: Director or Facilities Manager

SUPERVISES: Assigned team members (Custodians & Maintenance Techs)

EMPLOYMENT GRADE: NON - EXEMPT

II. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Facilities & Operations Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the overall management and maintenance of the church, school and childcare center physical facilities. The coordinator will ensure that all buildings and grounds are safe, well-maintained, and suitable for education, sporting events, worship services, and community activities. This role involves working closely with the Director of Facilities/Facilities Manager to coordinate maintenance, vendor services, safety inspections, and event setup. For all parish buildings and grounds that support the goals, objectives, and mission of the St Aloysius Catholic Church Parish.

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. Education, Experience & Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certifications or education in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred. At least 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field.

B. Other Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general construction is strongly preferred. Light equipment repair, changing lightbulbs and planning skills preferred. Individual shall be able to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders; operate lawn service equipment and small hand tools; and, be willing to learn. Must have the ability to work within a team, work well with other employees and the general public and shall respect and support the Catholic identity of the parish/diocese. Ability to follow instructions of supervisor. Ability to coordinate with external contractors and vendors.
Provide clear written and oral 1nstructions to all assigned subordinates. Must be able to work flexible schedules that include evenings and weekends.

C. Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift at least 55 lbs. move furniture, boxes, and heavy equipment. Work in hot, cold, or inclement weather. Work will also require using cleaning and paint supplies. Must be able to climb, work from a ladder, and work in some areas of height. Walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and kneeling are required. Position requires adequate vision and verbal communication skills. A pre-employment physical is required.

D. Working Environment:
The work environment is indoor and outdoor (exposed to weather conditions), exposed to heat, humid and wet conditions, cleaning chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and moderate noise.

IV. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
1. Essential Job Duty: Maintenance, Repairs and staff supervision

Standards:
  • Prioritize, communicate and coordinate routine and emergency repairs for church buildings, offices, classrooms, and other facilities.
  • Assist Director/Manager in assigning service requests & conducting weekly hot topic meeting with maintenance staff.
  • Assist in regular inspections to identify areas needing repair or improvement.
2.Essential Job Duty: Maintenance Services & Contractor Oversite

25%

Standards:
  • Manage relationships and expectations with external contractors for services like landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
  • Ensure service contracts are carried out according to the specifications and timelines including contractor escort and oversite.
  • Supervise vendor services to ensure quality and compliance with parish standards.
3. Essential Job Duty: Groundskeeping Support

Standards:
  • Perform inspections and maintain all Parish grounds, parking lots, and walkways.
  • Assist with selection and supervision of pest control, grounds service providers and volunteers
  • Lead maintenance staff efforts regarding trash removal and general grounds clean up
4. Essential Job Duty: Event, Educational & Ministry Setup and Support

15%

Standards:
  • Assist with setups and breakdown, including arranging furniture, audio/visual equipment, and other necessary items for services, meetings, and community events in addition to unlocking and securing facilities.
5. Essential Job Duty: General inspections & Inventory/Supply Management

Weight:
10%

Standards:
  • Perform facility inspections and ensure all areas are free of any hazards
  • Perform annual space, furniture, and equipment inventory
  • Order supplies and equipment
  • Conduct Safety meetings
  • Track and maintain appropriate inventory
  • Light repair work as needed
