Position: 2025-2026 Full-Time School Counselor
Position Description: Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a qualified School Counselor to join our Student Services team for the 2025-2026 school year. The School Counselor will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, social and emotional development of our students and will be dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, empathy and a strong commitment to the well-being of students and serve as a collaborative team member. Position Responsibilities: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address academic, personal and social concerns. Provide support and guidance to help students develop effective coping strategies and problem-solving skills. Work closely with teachers, parents and the Academic Success Center team to identify academic challenges and implement strategies for improvement. Review eligibility for special education services. Assist students with setting academic goals and developing effective study habits. Respond promptly to crises and emergencies affecting students, providing immediate support and coordinating with appropriate school personnel and community resources. Conduct classroom presentations on topics such as healthy relationships, stress management and college and career readiness. Promote positive mental health and well-being through educational programs. Collaborate with teachers, administrators and parents to create a supportive and inclusive school environment. Participate in Student Support Team discussions on student progress and coordination of interventions. Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions. Assist students with course selections, scheduling, onboarding and graduation credits. Stay informed on current trends and research in school counseling through professional development opportunities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
Position Qualifications: Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field and Ohio certification/licensure as a School Counselor. Knowledge of counseling techniques and best practices in school counseling. Experience in crisis intervention and management. Appropriate criminal records check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation. Have attended or are willing to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
